Rainer Spangl

(born 1977) Rainer Spangl lives and works in Vienna, Austria.  He has had solo exhibitions at Song Song in Vienna, Austria (2010), Art.Room in St. Pölten, Austria (2009) and devening projects + editions, Chicago (2008).  His works have been presented in group exhibitions at devening projects + editions in Chicago, Julius Caesar in Chicago, Kunstraum Goethestrasse in Linz, Austria, Trottoir in Hamburg, Germany, Kunstraum Innsbruck in Innsbruck, Austria, Fifty-50 Gallery in Chicago and at Swingr in Vienna, Austria. Presently, Spangl co-curates the “Artist Lecture Series” in Vienna. He is a founding member of the nonprofit gallery Swingr (2006-2008) in Vienna. Spangl studied painting at the Universität für angewandte Kunst under Christian Ludwig Attersee in Vienna, Austria and at the University College of Leeds in England.  He enjoys performing electronic deejay sets and was an original member of the vocal band Bauchklang.
